Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Law (MHCET Law)


Overview of the Exam

MHCET Law or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law is a national level exam conducted by Directorate of Higher Education, Maharashtra for admissions to law courses offered at the law colleges of the state. Through the entrance exam, law aspirants are shortlisted for admissions to more than 10000 seats of Five-year LLB courses offered at 120 law colleges.

Age Limit

Lower Age Limit: Candidates age limit should be 20 years (22 years for SC/ST of Maharashtra only) as on 1st July 2020. Upper Age Limit: There is no upper age limit to appear in both the exams.

Minimum Qualification Needed

3 year LLB:Candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Further, candidates should note that the 10+2+3 pattern is mandatory for MH CET Law 3-year LLB. 5 year LLB: Candidate should have completed Intermediate or any equivalent exam (for eg. 3-year diploma in engineering) from any recognized board or university.

Subject Requirements and minimum percentage

General candidates belonging to Maharashtra (as per domicile certificate): 45% SC/ST candidates from Maharashtra: 40% VJ / DT / NT(A) / NT / O.B.C./ S.B.C. Category belonging to State of Maharashtra.: 42% Candidates from other states (All category): 45%

Special provisions for reserved seats

Distance/ Correspondence: Students who have obtained 10+2 Pass certificate or first degree certificate by distance or correspondence method are also eligible to apply.
