Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE Main) is a national level test conducted by the National Testing Agency for candidates who wish to pursue undergraduate courses from top engineeiring institutes in India. Besides, it is the first phase of IIT Joint Entrance Exam and only the top 2,50,000 students from JEE Main get to qualify for the second phase called as JEE Advance. It is not a mandatory exam but can enable a candidate to apply at any engineering college in India. It has three papers - Paper I for admission to engineering courses (B.E./B.Tech.), Paper II for admission to architecture courses (B.Arch.) and Paper III for admission to planning courses (B.Planning). JEE Main is now being conducted twice a year and candidates may appear for either of the exams or both and the best score out of both scores will be considered for ranking purposes and admission.

Subject Requirements and minimum percentage
1. Paper I (For B.E. /B. Tech.) : Physics, Mathematics, Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject) 2. Paper II (For B. Arch.) : Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry 3. Paper III (For B. Planning) : Mathematics Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the new eligibility criteria is that candidates should have passed in at least 5 subjects of class 12 irrespective of percentage.
