Course Description

Ph.D. Population Studies is a doctoral level course. It also known as demography looks at the several facets of human populations by collecting and analysing demographic data. The doctoral programme focused on demographic data and trends in human populations. Candidates must be self-motivated and capable of independent study and thought in order to be considered for this position. Candidates who complete this course will be able to pursue careers in a variety of fields. Students who complete this course will have a variety of job opportunities in a variety of fields. The Doctor of Philosophy in Population Studies programme can be completed in three years of full-time study. The courses can be taken part-time or full-time by the applicant. After completing this course, you could work as a Sociologist, Market Risk Analyst, Economist, or in Public Affairs.


Duration: 3-6 years Level: Doctoral Admission to the Ph.D. programme will be based on the student`s performance in the entrance exam administered by the respective department or school of the university or institute. Candidates who have passed the GATE/NET/SET/M.Phil/JRF examinations of the apex bodies such as CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT will be exempted from the Entrance Test. The Departmental Committee of the institute may consider the student`s research work/earlier Ph.D./experience when granting the exemption. If a student already has a Doctorate in a relevant subject from a UGC Approved University or Institute, he or she may be exempt from the entrance exam and pre-Ph.D. coursework.
