Course Description

PhD Metallurgical Engineering is a Doctoral level course of 3 years. The Course is a thesis programme that deals with study and research in Material Science and composition of metal alloys and their physical and chemical behaviours in different environmental conditions. The course covers extensive research in various concepts related to metallurgical science like metal extraction, Alloy production, metalworking process, Heat treatments, plating, Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Foundry Technology, Testing etc. Upon completion of the PhD course candidates can expect to get job roles as Metallurgical Engineer, Mining Scientist, Industrial Scientists in various Metal or Metalworking industries like JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Reliance industries, Mining industries. Candidates can also be University Professors. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 8 Lakhs to 15 Lakhs per annum depending on the organisation and job position. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete MTech or ME with minimum aggregate of 55% and qualifying entrance exams like UGC NET in Mechanical related disciplines. Average Fees for the course is between 1 lakhs to 3 Lakhs INR per annum depending on the institution.

Eligibility

The candidate should have Masters or M.Phil. degree in relevant stream from a recognized university with an aggregate of 55% marks and also with valid Ph.D. entrance test (e.g. GATE, NET etc) along with the interview.
