Course Description

Master of Science in metallurgical Engineering is a Post graduate Engineering specialisation course of 2 years that requires both study and thesis in the field of Metallurgy. The field encompasses study of Material Science and composition of metal alloys and their physical or chemical behaviours in different environmental conditions. The course covers extensive research and study in concepts that are significant to metallurgical science like metal extraction, Alloy production, metalworking process, Heat treatments, plating, Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Foundry Technology, Testing etc. Upon completion of the MS course candidates can expect to get job roles as Metallurgical Engineer, Mining Scientist, Industrial Scientists in various Metal or Metalworking industries like JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Reliance industries, Mining industries. Starting salaries can be expected to range from 6 Lakhs to 8 Lakhs per annum. Eligibility criteria is Merit based and candidates are expected to complete B.Tech/BE in mechanical related discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks followed by qualifying GATE entrance exams. MS in engineering course is provided in very few Universities and institutions across India. Fees in Colleges/Universities are somewhere between 50K to 3 Lakhs INR per year.

Eligibility

The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
