M.Sc in Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering is a 2 years postgraduate degree in molecular biology course. Molecular Biology is the field of biology that studies the composition, structure and interactions of cellular molecules – such as nucleic acids and proteins – that carry out the biological processes essential for the cell's functions and maintenance and genetic engineering is the direct manipulation of an organism's genes using biotechnology. The course covers topics like Cell Biology (Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes), Basic Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysical Analytical Techniques, Enzyme Technology & Immunology, IPR, Biosafety, Bioethics and Entrepreneurship, Bioinformatics and Data Mining & Lab. Management & Safety, Industrial Applications of Genetic Engineering, Recombinant DNA Technology, Plant & Animal Genetic Engineering, etc.
The candidate should have completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant faculty or discipline from a recognized university with a Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. Many colleges conduct Entrance exams for admission to this course.
