The study focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of people who are suffering from one or more disorders related to addiction including disorders involved in legal and illegal drugs, gambling, sex, food, and other impulse control disorders. Candidates are provided practical knowledge in conducting conventional addiction psychiatry sessions, that helps them gain a better understanding of their patient's lifestyle by gathering medical history and the patient's mental health concerns. The study also emcompasses diagnosis on psychiatric diseases and conditions including substance addiction, depression, dementia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, sleep disorders, and eating disorder. Candidates also discover assessment of a person’s ability to perform everyday living activities such as eating, dressing and driving.The study is concerned with the treatment of individuals dealing with addiction issues along with co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
The candidate should have MD in Addiction Psychiatry from a recognized university.
