D.T.Ed. course offers students knowledge about the skills, behavior and the responsibilities that one has as a teacher. Students can further continue a postgraduate diploma course to qualify as teachers for secondary schools and above. The various theoretical subjects taught in this course are The Learning Child, Facilitating and Enhancing Learning, Teaching of secondary language, Teaching of English - I and II, Teaching of Mathematics - I and II, Teaching of Science - I and II, Teaching of Social Science - I and II. The practical subjects taken up for a better preparation of the candidates are Observing Children, Storytelling, School Visit, Physical Education, Health Education, Yoga, Self-development, Art Education, and Educational Computing. With this course, the teachers in training will get familiarized with the basic concepts of children who are in the initial learning stage of their educational program. They also get the knowledge of the physical, emotional, intellectual, moral, and social aspects of the learning child. This is applicable to all the three stages of the child's life - pre-school, during school, and after school. The additional skills that the candidates learn during D.T.Ed. course are managing children's distraction and division of attention and they also get to learn the factors of influential learning. A very important aspect that the trainee teachers learn in this course is understanding the learning disabilities that are possible in students and how to help them by using suitable strategies. The building blocks of a child's learning which include anger management, balancing social relationships, emotional stability, and moral attitude also are to be taken care of by those who study this course.
The candidate should have passed class 12th from a recognized board and institution. All the students who have passed their 12th board exams successfully from a recognized board and institution are eligible to apply for this course.
