On commercial music television channels, a Video Jockey (or VJ) is an announcer who introduces and plays videos. In recent years, video jockey, or VJ, has become one of the most popular employment alternatives among the media-savvy and music-obsessed younger generation. With the opening of the most widely used mass media (TV) to private players in the mid-1990s, and the launch of a slew of new 24-hour music channels by various private players, all of which were huge successes, video jockeying is emerging as an exciting career option for the music-obsessed generation.

• They should have a pleasant demeanour and an excellent grasp of the English language; they should be able to captivate the audience by discussing intriguing information or sharing celebrity tales.
