They often specialize; for example, they may work on large-scale construction projects or focus on smaller domestic projects. The nature of the job requires travel to multiple worksites regularly. Injuries such as cuts and burns are prevalent in this line of work.

What does Plumber do?

Plumbers are technicians who handle various parts of plumbing system installation and maintenance. Their responsibilities include everything from water supply and heating to sanitation and drainage. Plumbers may be employed in business and residential structures, farms, parks, and public spaces. Experienced plumbers can start their businesses and hire entry-level and mid-level plumbers. Plumbers install, repair, and maintain water/gas supplies, sanitation systems, and other related appliances in commercial and residential facilities. They frequently inspect plumbing systems, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions. A plumber's regular responsibilities include the following:

  1. Resolving plumbing problems in both residential and commercial properties.
  2. Before beginning work, estimate the cost of the activity/project.
  3. Identifying problems in plumbing systems and recommending long-term solutions.
  4. Using blueprint analysis to plan new installations.
  5. Sinks, toilets, and other associated fixtures are being installed.
  6. Plumbing systems are tested for flaws and durability.
  7. Restoring water supply and sanitation equipment.

To install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings,and drainage systems in commercial and residential buildings.
To work in teams with contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals and follow building plans and blueprints
To troubleshoot and resolve plumbing emergencies.
To conduct routine maintenance checks.
To prepare plumbing budgets and estimates of the project
To maintain records of work, including time and type of work, materials used etc.

What are the skills, abilities & aptitude needed to become Plumber?

The soft skill required for a plumber is hand mastery and fluency with the tools they utilize, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a team and understand the blueprints and rough drawings. They must be familiar with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, copper etc. Troubleshooting would require them to have critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask could be considered a virtue for a successful career. They must be up to date with safety regulations and practices.
