A correspondent is a journalist who covers and reports specific issues from a specific region or country. The correspondent is an on-scene news reporter who is sometimes called a journalist. Correspondents contribute news to newspapers, radio stations, and television stations, sent to the front lines to report back on what is taking place. A correspondent reports news from a particular region or country on a particular topic. Correspondents travel the world and report back to news organisations by recording or writing what they see. Correspondents often are away from home for weeks, months, or even years at a time. The correspondent has the opportunity to witness the event firsthand. This job is considered a demanding job because the correspondent has to be ready at all times to report the next big event. It also enables them to travel throughout the world. A correspondent must be ready at all times to catch the next major story and express his views in the news; they sleep little because they may be contacted in the middle of the night to report on breaking news.
Correspondents have no idea where they will go next in terms of city, town, or country. Correspondents can spend months and even years in one location, reporting on the news and events during the time of war as they happen in the area. News correspondents work in teams with editors and photographers, in events such as natural disasters, war, murder trials, or crime scene footage.
