Who is Fuel Cell Engineer?

Fuel cell engineering is a combined branch of mechanical engineering and chemical engineering that deals with the creativity and technology of fuel cells. Fuel Cell Engineers design, construct, evaluate, and modify fuel cell components or systems for portable applications. In addition, fuel cell Engineers conduct fuel cell testing projects using fuel cell test stations, analytical instruments, or electrochemical diagnostics, such as cyclic voltammetry or impedance spectroscopy. The role and responsibilities of Fuel cell engineers are to design and build mechanisms that produce electricity through a chemical reaction involving hydrogen, develop design plans, and assess the design.

Work documentation and manufacturing process supervision These duties are carried out by fuel cell engineers in connection to fuel cells. In addition, fuel cell Engineers work on enhancing the design plan of current fuel cells, and when the fuel cell is manufactured, it is evaluated for performance to establish its purpose. This will assist Fuel Cell Engineers in making design modifications or developing innovative methods to minimise manufacturing costs or boost fuel cell efficiency.

What does Fuel Cell Engineer do?

Fuel cell developers create systems, known as fuel cells, that generate energy via a chemical process using hydrogen. Most engineers, including fuel cell engineers, share several fundamental responsibilities, including the duty to produce design blueprints.

After creating a design plan, the engineer must evaluate it and attempt to enhance it as required. They supervise the production of prototypes and continue to evaluate and modify their product to ensure that it operates as expected. They also record their work, and after the product is complete, they may be part of the manufacturing process.

• To validate the design of fuel cell components, fuel cells or fuel cell systems.
• To fabricate prototypes of fuel cell assemblies, stacks, components or systems.
• To develop fuel cell test equipment or fuel cell materials
• To implement or recommend changes to fuel cell system designs.
• To define and identify vehicle and system integration challenges for fuel cell vehicles.

• Horough understanding of physics, chemistry, mathematics, computers, and design related to fuel cell development.
• Thorough understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Extremely proficient in a variety of related computer software including:-Computer-aided design (CAD)-Analytical and scientific software such as FactSage, GateCycle, and Minitab-Industrial 
• Control software such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-Component oriented development software-Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Detail-oriented and analytical.
• Thorough understanding of scientific methods and rules.
